Installing Your First PayToStart Device in 12 Minutes

Before you start

You’ll need the included harness, a trim tool, and the vehicle’s VIN. Budget about 12 minutes per car once you’ve done a couple.

1. Locate the CAN bus

Behind the dash, tap the harness in-line. The unit reads ignition state without cutting the starter wire directly.

2. Hide the unit

Tuck it behind the trim where it can’t be casually reached. The 72-hour backup battery keeps reporting even if the main wiring is cut.

3. Pair the loan

Scan the unit in the dashboard, attach the VIN and payment schedule, and print the buyer’s state disclosure form.

Tip: keep signed disclosures on file — every command is logged and exportable for disputes.
